Get your 15 seconds of fame

Ever been to a sporting event and wondered if you were on TV? Now it is easier than ever to find and share your 15 seconds of fame.

Weather it is a candid shot of fans in agonizing pain over their team losing or celebrating a brilliant play, there is a high likelihood that you have appeared on television at sporting events. As much as someone wants to see themselves on the television afterwards, it is time consuming to re-watch the entire game to try and spot yourself. That is where 15 Seconds of Fame (15SOF) comes in.

15SOF

15SOF is an application that uses facial recognition software to spot your moment on television without the hassle of replaying the entire match. This footage is then saved by the app in a format that can then be uploaded to your various social media devices.

Although 15SOF only covers specific sports events, it is expanding to cover more matches. The app first debuted in an NBA Finals game, and its success led it to partner with MLBAM to cover Major League Baseball games. 15SOF just secured its biggest deal yet, and has partnered with the Big Ten Network to cover some of the largest colligate matchups.

With the emerging popularity of this app, a common theme can be found amongst a lot of the emerging consumer sports technology. Apps such as 15SOF and new breakthroughs in the use of VR at sporting events aim at delivering the experience of a live sporting event into a household. While VR focuses on providing the live experience to the viewer, 15SOF primarily allows the user to relive and share the emotion they experienced after the fact.

Thanks to this new technology, you can not only share a stadium with your favourite athletes, but also be on TV alongside them.
