Golfers are always aiming to find ways to take strokes off their games, and new technology is now providing them with the tools to achieve this.
One of the more useful pieces of information to golfers is the distance from their location to the green, and American company GoGolf GPS is making acquiring this information easier than ever. Their new product, the GoGolf GPS Audible Rangefinder, provides a hands-free way to obtain the distance to the green from anywhere on the course.
This half inch, 1/3 oz. technology has interchangeable clips, which allows it to be easily attached to glasses, visors, and caps. It has only two buttons, which allow the user to select their current hole, be told the distance to the green and pair the device to your phone through Bluetooth. This Bluetooth connection allows the device to interact with the FreeCaddie Audio App, which provides information on over 30,000 courses as well as distances to other notable obstacles on the course such as bunkers, doglegs, and hazards. If you do end up a bit too close to a water hazard, there is no need to fret seeing that the rangefinder is water resistant and wireless, but they don’t advise swimming with it. GoGolf GPS has programmed the device to speak in most major languages since Golf is an international sport with a global audience.
Professionals who have tested out the device have also praised it, Kathy Gildersleeve-Jensen, the 2014 National PGA Teacher of the Year, said, “GoGolf GPS provides immediate and precise distance simply. Knowing distances leads to confident, quicker decisions and faster play. Besides, it looks cool and makes golf fun! I love the convenience of GoGolf GPS!”.
The device also manages to stand out when compared to its competitors. Other quality viewfinders and GPS devices on average cost over $100, while the GoGolf GPS Rangefinder is currently being sold for $69.00. In addition to being better priced, the audible feature allows the user to line up a shot instead of looking at a screen or through a scope, allowing for a quicker, more focused game.
Modern sports as a whole have been focusing on creating the ultimate experience for fans as well as making it easier for the average player to improve. Golf is no exception, as is shown by the PGA Tour live streaming tournaments on Twitter as well as new technology such as GPS Rangefinders. Due to the frequent upgrades of technology and increased demand of a more immersive consumer experience, devices like the GPS Rangefinder will soon be standard for the modern golf fan.
